ACEP Researcher Travels to Las Vegas in Support of DOE Wind Competition
Daisy Huang will travel to Las Vegas this week in support of UAF’s Collegiate Wind Competition team. The national Competition, organized by the DOE, will take place alongside the American Wind Energy Association’s (AWEA) WINDPOWER® 2014 Conference & Exhibition.
The UAF team, an interdisciplinary group composed of both engineering and business majoring students, is one of ten entrants that were selected competitively from a nationwide pool. The goal of the competition is to design and build a personal-sized wind turbine, intended for charging small electronics and field devices while in remote off grid locations. Scoring is based on power generation, cut-in wind speed, and robustness.
In addition to supporting UAF’s team, Daisy will also be attending the WINDPOWER® 2014 Conference with the goal of networking and gaining new knowledge on the latest developments in the wind power industry in America.
