ICEE AK Set to Kick Off K-12 Pilot Program at Watershed Charter School

This week AK Energy Smart Energy Education Manager Katie Croft from the Renewable Energy Alaska Project will be in Fairbanks to visit classes at Watershed Charter School.  She will be presenting AK Energy Smart lessons to K-8 grade students as part of Interior Community Energy Efficiency Alaska’s (ICEE AK’s) work on the Georgetown University Energy Prize (GUEP) competition.

Representatives from ACEP will also be attending the class visits along with Katie to present ICEE AK’s “K-12 Kilowatt Competition Program” to each class.  The competition is designed to encourage children and young adults to save energy at home by auditing their current household usage and by exploring ways reduce what they do use.  The prize for the competition will be a pizza party for the winning group and $500 to spend at the group’s discretion.
