ACEP and ISER host Alaska Community Database Workshop
Alaska Community Database Workshop
Cold Climate Housing Research Center
Fairbanks, Alaska
November 2, 2016
ACEP and ISER hosted a group of Alaska researchers and agency data mangers to discuss the merits and logistics of storing all publicly available data collected on Alaska communities in one database warehouse.
An existing database portal exists for energy information in Alaska titled, and this may serve as a model for a new portal.
Data Collection & Management Program Manager Erin Whitney and ISER Assistant Professor
of Natural Resource Management and Policy Jen Schmidt led the workshop which was sponsored
by the U.S. Arctic Research Commission.
While the logistical issues of storing and managing the enormous amount of data has
not yet been solved, this topic will continue with further discussion.
