Wies Attends IEEE General Meeting
ACEP researcher Richard Wies attended the 2018 Aug. 5-9, 2018, in Portland, Oregon. He presented on an National Science Foundation-funded project called Micro Food, Energy, and Water Systems.
MicroFEWS looks at the effect of renewable power sources on food, energy and water systems in sub-Arctic and Arctic communities in Alaska that operate as remote islanded microgrids. While at the conference, he also attended working groups and task force meetings related to the implementation, resiliency and stability of microgrids.
Wies also met with the chief technical officer Moriel Arango of a hydrokinetic startup company, , to discuss its design, testing and possible collaboration with ACEP for development of grid integration strategies.
