Joint Appointment Links UAF and CCHRC through Energy and Sustainability

Tom Marsik started a joint position this summer with the ÌÀÄ·ÊÓƵ and the where he will continue his work on energy and sustainability solutions for Alaska.

Marsik has an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Czech Technical University in Prague and a Ph.D. in Engineering from UAF. He has served on high profile committees, including Governor Bill Walker’s Transition Team and its Consumer Energy subcommittee, and has earned honors including Alaska’s Top Forty Under 40 award and a recognition from the World Record Academy for designing and constructing the world’s tightest residential building on record.

Marsik is the Research Director at CCHRC and an Associate Professor of Sustainable Energy for the UAF Bristol Bay Campus and Alaska Center for Energy and Power. He is currently involved in a wide range of topics revolving around electrical and thermal efficiencies of buildings; his latest project deals with linear LED lighting technology.
