Alaska Applications Discussed at Nuclear Microreactor Workshop
The held June 18-20 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, was coordinated by the organization. The event brought together a cross-section of representatives from the microreactor industry, the , the , the , the , and multiple universities and community stakeholders.
ACEP’s George Roe participated as an invited speaker at the event, which attracted
over 130 people. Topics discussed included presentations on the status of microreactor
developers; current DOE efforts in fuels development, modeling and analysis; test
and instrumentation capabilities; regulatory considerations; and user needs.
Roe reviewed energy use in Alaska energy. He shared highlights and issues identified
during the Nuclear Microreactor Information Session held April 18 in Anchorage, and he discussed possible uses for microreactors in Alaska.
Information from the meeting will be used to help Alaskans maintain awareness of ongoing
developments with the microreactor technology. The meeting agenda and presentations
will be accessible via the .
