Solarize Fairbanks is Kicking off the 2021 Campaign
Solarize Fairbanks is a locally organized community outreach effort working to make it easier and more affordable to go solar in the Fairbanks Area. They’ll do this by engaging a critical mass of homes and businesses to solarize together between March and August 2021. The campaign leverages group purchasing power; solarizers purchase solar systems in bulk for significantly less money than the typical market rate through the creation of a steady stream of purchases and installations.
The 2020 solarize campaigns in Ester, Steele Creek and Goldstream resulted in 70 installs at base prices that were 10 to 15% below the 2019 costs. This caught a lot of people’s attention throughout the Golden Valley Electric Association service area. With a record number of solar installs in 2020 (163!!), the number of solar electricity producers connected to the GVEA grid increased by 51% from 2019.
