An Update from Solarize Fairbanks - 71 Homes Signed-Up to Add Solar

is wrapping up the sign-up period for the 2021 Solarize campaign, with 71 homes and businesses contracted to get solar panels installed in Chena Loop, Farmer鈥檚 Loop, Eielson Farm Road, Downtown, and Denali. We'll be watching (and we hope you see some too) as those solar panels go up throughout the Fairbanks North Star Borough and Denali area through the end of the construction season.

Solar sign-ups are closed for this year, but the campaign for 2021 is in full swing. Just like the solarize effort, the Energy Efficiency campaign is led by Solarize Fairbanks and organizes community members so they can access an energy audit from a trusted auditor at a discounted rate. Anyone in the Fairbanks North Star Borough and Denali Borough can participate in the Energy Efficiency Campaign! (That鈥檚 right, you don鈥檛 need to have or want solar panels to get discounted energy audits this summer).  to see prices and confirm your spot for a residential or commercial energy audit.

A Fairbanks family who added solar is now looking into energy efficiency. 汤姆视频 professor emeritus Terry Chapin, endorses being thoughtful about energy usage, especially as an Alaskan resident. Last year, he and his wife installed solar panels through the solarize effort, and this year, they wanted to take another step in finding ways to reduce their energy footprint. Through the Energy Efficiency campaign, they were able to do just that.

鈥淸Dan Spillane, the energy auditor] was able to tell me a lot about the issues with respect to our house and extremely understanding that some things are expensive to fix, and others are less expensive to fix. He went out of his way to point out the most cost-effective steps that we could take to have the biggest impact鈥, Chapin said.
