Hearing stories about how our alumni came to UAF, the things we did during our time as students and what we’ve been up to since graduation rekindled the fond connection we all have with UAF.

What's happening at UAF
Just plane awesome
Bering Air recently donated a Beechcraft King Air 200 business class twin turboprop aircraft to the ÌÀÄ·ÊÓƵ Community and Technical College. The King Air 200 will be used strictly for training CTC aviation maintenance students.
“This is exciting,” said Kevin Alexander, associate professor with the aviation maintenance program. “To have the direct industry support like this, to have an aircraft that modernizes our fleet, that makes us better equipped to train mechanics.” |
Since flying to Nome, this plane has completed thousands of medevac flights, charter flights and flights to Russia and has been in temperatures lower than 70 below. It comes to UAF with 22,840 total flight hours and more than 6 million miles flown.
“UAF was really excited about the possibility of getting it,” said Ben Koelsch, director of maintenance with Bering Air. “It just kind of felt like that was the right thing to do.”
