Mrs. Jeannie Phillips

Executive Officer and Assistant, Emeritus 

WHEREAS Mrs. Jeannie Phillips has served the University of Alaska and University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction in multiple administrative staff roles from 1981 to 2022; and

WHEREAS Mrs. Phillips began her UAF career as a clerk at KUAC FM and then worked as an administrative secretary, office manager and administrative assistant respectively in the statewide university’s human resources, general counsel and academic affairs offices, and she served 18 years as the Board of Regents’ executive officer and another 10 years as assistant to the UAF chancellor; and

WHEREAS Mrs. Phillips’ co-workers and supervisors, in their nomination letters, describe her exceptional judgment, knowledge, attention to detail, humility and willingness to put in extra effort, as well as her kindness, courtesy, grace and good humor, and they attest to her discretion and diplomacy in navigating difficult situations; and

WHEREAS Mrs. Phillips, whose adaptability and versatility brought her success while working under many different leaders with different approaches, has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the university, and her efforts epitomize the ideals of an institution dedicated to serving the community and state;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the ÌÀÄ·ÊÓƵ expresses its deep appreciation to Mrs. Jeannie Phillips for her extensive contributions to the state of Alaska and to the university; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the ÌÀÄ·ÊÓƵ, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Mrs. Phillips and as evidence of the university’s desire that her identification with the university be maintained, hereby confers upon Mrs. Jeannie Phillips the title of executive officer and assistant, emeritus; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the chancellor as further evidence of the ÌÀÄ·ÊÓƵ’ esteem and respect for Mrs. Jeannie Phillips, and conveyed to Mrs. Phillips on this twenty-ninth day of April, 2022.
