UAF to host Engineering Open House Feb. 22

The ÌÀÄ·ÊÓƵ College of Engineering and Mines will host its annual Engineering Open House on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Usibelli Building on the Troth Yeddha’ Campus in Fairbanks.

This free event welcomes K-12 students, prospective college students, families and community members to explore the exciting world of engineering. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour cutting-edge labs, engage with current students and faculty, and discover the research and innovations happening at UAF.

Event highlights:

  • Aerospace and robotics demonstrations, including rocket launches and interactive displays
  • 59th annual ice arch, a long-standing UAF engineering tradition
  • Hands-on activities and engineering challenges
  • A chance to win one of two $1,500 scholarship accounts, sponsored by Golden Valley Electric Association and the Alaska 529 plan
  • Photo booth and ice bear sculpture for visitors to enjoy
  • Free snacks and children’s T-shirts, while supplies last

Students from the civil, mechanical, aerospace, petroleum, mining, electrical, geological and computer engineering programs will showcase projects and demonstrations. Students from engineering clubs and faculty members will answer questions and share insights into academic programs and career opportunities.

The event is sponsored by ConocoPhillips Alaska. Parking on campus is free on weekends.
