Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities to combine with Department of Equity and Compliance into one unit
The Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities and the Department of Equity and Compliance are being combined to create a single, collaborative unit. The new unit will be led by the executive director (recruitment launching soon). The combined offices will be located on the third floor of Constitution Hall.
This reorganization continues our efforts to make UAF a place of respect, diversity, inclusion and caring, increases the accessibility of resources, and improves student and employee experience at UAF. A single office responsible for leading investigation, care, and compliance efforts specific to Clery, Title IX, Discrimination and ADA laws will ensure efficiency of response and resources, create a strategic approach to meeting federal compliance needs, provide clarity in reporting, and increase capacity for university departments to provide trauma-informed care and meaningful responses to the needs of the community.
The executive director will oversee compliance, student accountability and support needs, and misconduct investigations outlined under Board of Regents’ Policy (01.02, 01.04. and 09.02). An internal recruitment for the position has been launched and all eligible and interested parties are encouraged to apply.
The responsibilities of the chief diversity officer will be decoupled from this unit. Please keep an eye out for more information regarding the CDO position in the coming weeks.
Please direct any questions regarding this change to the Office of the Chancellor at uaf.chancellor@alaska.edu.
