Community members can explore a wide array of health careers and educational opportunities at the ķƵ’ 12th annual Alaska Interior Medical Education Summit.
The summit will feature demonstrations, panel discussions and hands-on activities to introduce attendees to health care careers and education options. It will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, in the Murie Building on the Troth Yeddha’ Campus.
Health care professionals, organizations and vendors from across the United States will participate. Doctors, nurses, phlebotomists, veterinarians, dental technicians, UAF biomedical researchers and other medical professionals will answer questions and conduct activities. There will also be information about funding options.
Amy Wald, an undergraduate student advisor for UAF, said the event serves not only college students interested in becoming doctors but also a much wider community.
“It’s for high school and college students, as well as people looking for opportunities that span the full range of health options — from medical biller to medical researcher,” Wald said. “There should be something for everyone at AIMES.”
The event is free to the public, but preregistration is required. To register online or to explore last year’s program topics, visit the .
