InsideOut Story lab seeking science-inspired stories, poems, and sketches
The Learning InsideOut Story Lab invites submissions to their latest collection, Science on the Move. Submit original short stories and black-and-white sketches that spark curiosity about Arctic research.
This collection, Story Lab’s fifth, aims to make science accessible and culturally relevant while sparking inquiry into STEM for justice-impacted populations across the state.
Accepted stories will be shared through StoryCube dispensers, portable printers from global publisher Short Édition, offering stories at the push of a button. Additionally, the collection will be shared at the UAF Arctic Research Open House on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
Suggested themes include:
- personal or community experience with climate change
- thought experiments
- stories from the field or lab
- highlights of humans behind the science
- global research having local impact
- instances of overcoming discrimination in science
- science or climate fiction
- poetry or haikus
- philosophy of science and your work
- doing science with limited resources
- hunting, foraging, and farming technologies
