Youths can learn about soil science — and play with their food — in a fun, hands-on workshop with 4-H and the ÌÀÄ·ÊÓƵ Cooperative Extension Service.
Allison Bruchhaus, Anchorage 4-H program coordinator, will lead the program from 3-4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, at the Learning Commons in the Z.J. Loussac Library, 3600 Denali St., Anchorage. It is designed for youths from ages 5-11.
Participants will learn the many elements of the soil (including worms!) by putting together their own pudding cup environment. Participants will be introduced to soil components and learn layers of the soil while making a tasty treat. The ingredients contain wheat, gluten and coconut.
The event is part of the library’s science, technology, engineering and math program. No registration is required.
