ķƵ Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week of July 17-24:
- On Monday, July 18, the Tall Timbers interview series will feature a discussion with Matt Atkinson, the owner of Northern Alaska Tour Co. Veteran journalist Robert Hannon will lead the conversation, which will be at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of UAF’s Engineering Learning and Innovation Facility.
- On Tuesday, July 19, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature Dr. Kathleen Carey on “Responding to a Pandemic: What They Never Taught in Medical School,” at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
- On Wednesday, July 20, the Discover Alaska lecture series will highlight work at the ķƵ Center for Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship, or Center ICE. Peter Webley, associate research director at Center ICE, will discuss efforts to support innovative research and the statewide entrepreneurial ecosystem at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
- On Thursday, July 21, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature Fairbanks-raised singer Emily Anderson at 7 p.m. at UAF’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.
UAF’s Fairbanks campuses are currently at “orange” level for COVID-19 precautions, which requires masking indoors, as well as outdoors when its not possible to stay 6 feet away from other people. Masks will be required and made available at events this week.
