Trent Sutton serves as Vice Provost, Accreditation Liaison Officer, Dean of the Division of Exploratory Studies and Academic Success (DEXSAS), and Director of Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity (URSA). Trent completed his undergraduate education (B.S.) in Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University, and received a M.S. in Biological Sciences from Michigan Technological University and a Ph.D. in Fisheries Sciences from Virginia Tech. Prior to coming to UAF in 2007, Trent held faculty positions at both Lake Superior State University (1996-2001) and Purdue University (2001-2007). During his time at UAF, Trent held positions as a Professor of Fisheries Biology in the Department of Fisheries and as the Associate Dean of Academic Programs in the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences.

Jen Tilbury is the Associate Vice Provost for Student Success at UAF, the director of the UAF Writing Center, and the Chair of Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Studies. As part of her role, she directs operations at the Student Success Center (SSC). The SSC is an amazing one-stop shop for student academic support, housing first-year advising, Career Services, the Math & Stat lab, the Writing Center, the Communication Center, and more (come see us!). A lifelong Alaskan, Jen graduated from UAF with an MA in English Literature in 2003. Prior to her position as Associate Vice Provost,  taught various writing courses at UAF as a full-time faculty member. She is currently pursuing an EdD in Organizational Leadership. Her favorite aspect of working at UAF is connecting students with the academic support they need to succeed in their classes. 

In her spare time, Jen enjoys reading, jogging, traveling, and spending time with her family.

April Jaillet has been appointed the new director of ��ķ��Ƶ Career Services, beginning Sept. 22. Jaillet holds two degrees from UAF (BM 2009, MA 2011).

She began her career at UAF in 2012 in the Office of Admissions and the Registrar. She has worked in the Office of the Registrar, the Department of Music, and most recently, the Academic Advising Center. In addition to these roles, she has served as adjunct faculty in the Department of Music.

Megan grew up in Michigan and one of her biggest passions in life was music. When it was time to graduate high school the only thing she knew for sure was she wanted to pursue music and decided to pursue and receive a bachelor's in Music Education from Eastern Michigan University in 2018. She taught middle school music for five years before moving on to higher education. Her passion for education and supporting students has led Megan to her current position with the Student Success Center as their Services Coordinator. She looks forward to what this position will grow to in the future and supporting the students here at UAF!

As the Accreditation & Assessment Coordinator for the ��ķ��Ƶ (UAF), Rochelle collaborates closely with the Vice Provost to ensure institutional excellence. Rochelle's academic journey began with an Associate of Arts degree from Spokane Falls Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in English from Central Washington University. Currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree at UAF, Rochelle is dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and academic integrity within the university community. Personally, she takes great pride in her children's educational pursuits: her daughter excels as an Honor's College student at UAF, while her son thrives at Northstar College.

Originally from the Florida panhandle, Libby earned a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in behavioral science and modern language from the University of Central Florida. She participated in interdisciplinary research examining behavioral and linguistic components of primary education in Botswana, where she taught in rural communities. Since moving to Fairbanks, she has continued her career in public education, initially serving UAF as a UIS Advisor before transitioning to Accreditation. Libby is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration and enjoys crocheting, playing video games, engaging in various art projects, and parenting her cat, Toby.

Erin completed her undergraduate education in Anthropology and Archaeology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a M.A. in Museum Studies from Arizona State University. She has worked at UAF since 2020 and previously served as the Graduate School Office Coordinator. In her role as URSA Coordinator and Assistant Director, Erin finds joy in connecting students with opportunities that actively engage their passions on and off campus, as well as in supporting students and mentors through all stages of research and creative project work.

Victoria Dropps holds a B.S. in Natural Resource Ecology & Management with a concentration in Wildlife Biology (Pre-Vet) from Oklahoma State University. She has 10 years of experience as a veterinary nurse, split between general care and ophthalmology. Victoria serves as an Information Officer and Administrative Assistant at UAF within the offices of the provost, vice provost, and the Division of Exploratory Studies & Academic Success. She is currently working toward an M.A. in Professional Communications, focusing her thesis on the impact of effective communication on treatment success and compassion fatigue in the veterinary industry. Passionate about education, innovation, conservation, and most of all animals, she finds inspiration in her cat, Princess Penelope, by always striving to be present, positive, and on a constant path of improvement. Dr. Suess said it best, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

Madara Mason is the interim director for the Honors College and brings more than 20 years of experience to this role teaching undergraduate and graduate courses for multiple departments (including Honors) as well as managing large teams and steering faculty development. Known for her service-driven leadership, she has played a pivotal role in advancing innovation at UAF, most recently spearheading the creation of the Making is Learning Lab. An Honors graduate herself, Madara also holds an M.A. in Literature from UAF, maintains a daily professional art practice, and keeps her professional life interesting by working on data systems and software interfaces that facilitate institutional agility. Her dedication to community-based problem-solving, rooted in hands-on, transdisciplinary methods, ensures that our classrooms and labs are spaces where creative and critical thinking thrives. 

Anne completed her B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton College in Minnesota, and a Master in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages at Xiamen University in China. While in college, a summer spent volunteering in rural China sparked a lifelong passion for fostering cross-cultural connections, and turned into eight years of working as a coordinator for that volunteer program. Her prior experience also includes teaching high school English in China and welcoming visitors to Denali National Park in Alaska as an interpretative ranger, among other things. Since joining UAF in 2023, Anne has greatly enjoyed supporting students through the process of studying away and hearing about all the amazing places it takes them. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking and gardening in the summer, and cross-country skiing in the winter.
