Dual Enrollment Costs at the ÌÀÄ·ÊÓƵ
The ÌÀÄ·ÊÓƵ offers three dual enrollment programs that are designed to accommodate any high school student — regardless of where they live or how they prefer to study and learn. How much you’ll pay and how much financial aid is available depends on the program that you choose. Below are the costs associated with each program.
If you’re a junior or senior on track to graduate and you’d like to experience campus life at the ÌÀÄ·ÊÓƵ while still enrolled in high school, North Star College is for you.
You can take up to 15 credits per semester. Best of all, you won’t pay anything! The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District pays for students’ tuition, fees and textbooks.
The credits you earn at North Star College will count toward high school graduation and get you started on college. You can also get a taste of different University of Alaska Fairbanks majors to see what interests you most.
The Alaska Higher Education Admission Decision (AHEAD) program lets qualified high school students be formally admitted to the ÌÀÄ·ÊÓƵ as general studies students. In AHEAD, you’ll be able to take full-time college courses.
To qualify, students must have completed three-fourths of their high school core curriculum and have a cumulative 3.0 grade point average or higher.
As a formally admitted ÌÀÄ·ÊÓƵ student, you’ll pay normal tuition costs. However, you can offset your costs by taking classes through the Alaska Advantage program.
The average cost per credit is $234.
High school students looking to take classes online or who can’t travel to the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus should consider joining the Alaska Advantage dual enrollment program.
Students can take advantage of special pricing with course costs at only $165 per credit. This is a savings of more than 40%! Note that this doesn't include textbooks or other course materials.
