Title IX is a federal civil rights law that prohibits sex discrimination in education. All members of the university community and visitors have the right to be free from all forms of gender and sex-based discrimination, including sexual violence, sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking.
UAF is a campus where EVERYONE is welcome and EVERYONE belongs. ÌÀÄ·ÊÓƵ prohibits gender-based harassment and violence, whether that's sexual assault, harassment of a transgender or individual not conforming to gender norms, if it is so severe or pervasive that it affects a student's ability to get their education or an employee's ability to perform their duties.
Title IX of the education amendments of 1972, 20 U.S.C. §1681 ETA seq., is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, including pregnancy and parental status, in educational programs and activities.
University of Alaska employees are designated as responsible employees under Title IX. A responsible employee MUST report all relevant details of sexual misconduct to the Title IX coordinator or other school designee within 24 hours.

The university prohibits sexual misconduct including sexual harassment, dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. If an act of gender-based or sexual misconduct occurs, the university will take steps to stop the behavior, prevent its recurrence, and provide remedies for the complainant.
The Office of Rights, Compliance and Accountability leads a focused effort to build inclusive systems at UAF by ensuring compliance with civil rights; providing advice and direction to administration, faculty, staff, supervisors and students; and by institutionalizing processes to eradicate discrimination and build equity.
